OK so on first look it's a nice looking place with a good lay out. Thus the 2 stars. I asked a few simple questions to see what kind of knowledge the staff had and they looked at each other to see if the answers that they were giving were correct! I asked what the difference between two different brand models were and the first answer I got was that one was smaller than the other. I was unaware that captain obvious had settled on a career! There was no real I depth knowledge and if I was seriously interested in more than just opinion then going elsewhere would probably be more beneficial. I feel that this kind of specialist retailer should have good to exceptional knowledge in their field and Clifton Cameras left a lot to be desired. Saying that, the staff were very polite and not pushy. They also allowed me to hold but not try out the medels that I was interested in. Not once was I asked what I wanted a camera for as this would have helped them to sell to me on the day.

Very disappointed with my visit. I went in for something simple and they didn't have it in stock. Staff were not very helpful. Will not be visiting again
Superb shop, very attractive window display, big shop floor with priducts attractively displayed in well lit cabinets. Everything was well presented, with a wide range of products and manufacturers. Friendly, well informed staff. Lots of good advice was given, and staff didn't steer me towards the most expensive product, rather tailoring products to my needs to give me a good range of choice. If you want a specific product, it's a good idea to call in advance so they can get it and comparables from their warehouse into the shop for you to see and try out, I called several days in advance and they then held the items for me, with no obligation to buy any. The shop is situated in a pedestrian area, with free parking a couple of minutes walk away. Lots if advice available in shop and on the phone, and courses are available to help learn all about your equipment.
Brilliant service as always from this shop, it is certainly the best camera store in the area and probably the country. All the staff are always helpful, knowledgeable and friendly, they take time to understand you and your needs and suggest options based upon what is right for you not just what they want to sell. It's always a pleasure to spend time in such a well lit, well designed and stocked store, would recommend a visit no matter what your photography needs. Doesn't matter whether you deal with staff in store, online or by phone the level of service is always excellent.
